Christmas is just around the corner. Many shoppers spend great amount of money to buy Christmas presents and prepare for the Chinese New Year.
Only in the recent years that Penang shopping malls had noticed the importance and business opportunity of the Christmas. Thus they're putting their best Christmas decorations in the concourse areas to attract shoppers.
In this article, we'll see various themes of Christmas decorations from Penang shopping malls and happening places.
Gurney Plaza

Gurney Plaza is the ONLY mall that themes its decoration with Santa Claus. Based on an article from England, the Santa Claus represents the shopping spirit. But many places have avoided using Santa Claus because of the economy downturn.
This is a very traditional Christmas decoration with a cabin in a snow land. The Santa Claus prepares to sneak into the chimney to leave presents for good kids. The front door of the cabin shows a fireplace that gives a cozy feeling in the snow land.
Queensbay Mall

Queensbay Mall has themed its Christmas as Toy Factory. You may see many elves are decorating the palm trees. A side note: elves are the servants of Santa Claus who make toys. Reindeers are sending out the gifts to kids around the world. The Mary-Go-Around on the left represents the cheerful moment with the kids or childhood memory.
This decoration is targeting children so that the little rascles would nag their parents to shop.
1st Avenue

1st Avenue has come up with a mature theme representing the lifestyle of adults. I believe it has to do with the shoplots inside 1st Avenue. Since the main stream of customers is adult, so its decorating theme goes to music with a cold blue ambient that emphasise uniqueness and high level of lifestyle.
The "bling-blingness" from the ceiling can be interpreted as diamonds. They may represent glamour and royal.
Sunway Carnival

Sunway Carnival has a snow globe in the middle of stage with mushroom-kinda houses surrounding it.
The super bright red gives a very warm feeling toward viewers with the passion and impulsive desires to shop.
Straits Quay

Straits Quay still goes with the huge Christmas tree as the main attraction just like last year. The plain decorative items on the tree represents gold and prosperity.
It's targeting higher spending power from young adults with night life and luxury.
Prangin Mall

Prangin Mall has decorated its concourse area with toy land and holiday season. Teddy bears are the main theme supporting by little snowmen and party hats.
New World Park

Nothing is really fancy in New World Park. The Christmas trees are made by egg holders and plastic bottles.
I know it's environmental friendly and emphasises recyling
Komtar

Komtar is with the theme of Satu Malaysia.
Wait, that's not even a Christmas theme!!!
