This might be the worst car show I attended in my whole life. I really can't believe an event organizer could make such n00b mistakes in many fields.
- Organizer with serious communication breakdown
- Almost empty content.
- Messed up activity conflict.
- Pointless parade.

Other than the Octoberfest, it's an another yearly open day in the Malaysia German Society.

Since I'm not a person who has great knowledge recognizing German culture and handicraft, I really can't tell if they are belong to German or local Malaysian. So just let the pictures talk.

1st Avenue Amour Fashion ShowThe Baleno fashion show was the 4th show during that weekend in 1st Avenue Mall.

The challenge of this shooting was lighting. As you may have noticed, the roof of 1st Avenue Mall is totally sealed unlike Queensbay Mall or Gurney plaza, which is covered with a transparent glass or acrylic.

That means shooting in a total artificial lighting setup. The stage is made out with glass and light tube underneath it. In order to prevent the so called "ghost light", one has to catch the moment where the artificial light projects on the vertical surface of the models.

Queensbay Mall Fashion Marathon during the Vogue of Virtua week in April 2011.

Thni Kong Seh is a big day for the Hokkien folks in Penang. It may be considered as a more important day than Chinese New Year.

Every year's Thni Kong Seh falls on the 9th of the first lunar month worshiping the Jade Emperor. You may check out the folklore here.

On this day, the Chinese will worship the Jade Emperor with roasted pigs and sugarcanes. Since the Clan Jetty was said to be the pioneer of the Hokkien, so it's reasonable to host the biggest Thni Kong Seh in Penang.

Based newspaper, this event attracted roughly 40k of crowds.

The yearly light's up ceremony fell on the 29th of January this year. The ceremony began around 6:30pm with some chanting and praying for a peaceful following year.

During the praying ceremony, there were many people praying on the pagoda and surrounding it. The chanting and praying lasted for around 20 minutes. Following by turning up all the lights.

Since it was around 7pm, when the sky was not dark enough to make the pagoda standing out. With a little delay, the firework lit up to the sky with little expectation. Many photographers were so panic setting up tripods to capture the moment even though the sky was yet a little too bright.

If you plan to visit it at night, check out Kek Lok Si lighting up schedule.

Kavadi Attam (Tamil:காவடி ஆட்டம்) is a dance performed by the devotees during the ceremonial worship of Murugan, the Tamil God of War. It is often performed during the festival of Thaipusam and emphasizes debt bondage. The Kavadi itself is a physical burden through which the devotees implore for help from the God Murugan.

As usual, the Kavadi started from dawn. But our crews waited until day-break to enter scene since there was no point to shoot in the dark.

There was quite a crowd even at 7:30am. But not many devotees had began their ritual ceremony yet. The number photographer was almost half the crowd and squeezing for strategic shooting positions. This is the time one would prefer relaxing instead of joining-in the sardines.

LaSENZA is having a mini lingerie show at its display window in Queensbay Mall on 10 and 11 Dec 2010.

If you missed the first day show, there're still 2 shows tomorrow. You may check out the schedule here.

It was quite a surprise that knowing LaSENZA having a lingerie show in Queensbay Mallas. The main stage was still decorated as the Barbie Doll theme. With some unique sense of a event reporter, I walked to LaSENZA shop on the first floor under the CIMB bank based on some hunter instinct. Seeing bunch of photographers killing shutter in front of the shop.

The photoshooting was kind of out of sudden. Shooting in front of a glass is not easy especially I don't have the proper filter with me.

Cosplaying is acting anime characters in real life, especially Japanese anime characters. Some might know that anime characters have very fancy hair color and special costumes that the cosplayers have to imitate.

This is the one of the biggest cosplay events in Penang Island as I know of. It was held at the Kelawai entrance of Gurney Plaza New Wing. The location was badly planned that had direct sun light on the canopy and all the participants. Imagine you have to wear thick wigs and costume in a tropical rain forest country in the afternoon. I really respect the passion of the cosplayers. Hopefully this activity can be popular and better executed next time.
